Paul joined our Edinburgh office in December 2022. Bringing over 25 years of experience in the Financial Services sector, he chose to join Acumen Financial Planning due to our first-class reputation and a culture that puts the client at the heart of our financial planning service.

Outside work, Paul is a keen golfer and enjoys holidays and travelling with his wife, Angela.

What do you like most about working at Acumen Financial Planning?

“It’s a job that can genuinely change people’s financial and personal lives. Creating financial independence, sharing with someone that they never have to work again or perhaps just bringing clarity and transparency to a client’s finances can be quite a thrill.”

 What has been your proudest career achievement to date?

 “Gaining that final exam to become Chartered meant an incredible amount to me. I’ll always remember the moment that the final result came through. It was something I wanted to achieve, and the hard work was rewarded.”

 Tell us one thing that people would be surprised to find out about you.

“I decided to become a qualified golf tutor in 2008 through the European Golf Teachers Federation, partly to have another skillset and to improve my own game. I have golfed for 30 years now and love the game now as much as I did when I started.”

What’s the best advice you’ve ever received?

“It’s nice to be important, but it’s more important to be nice”.
